Freemium Games seems like the up and coming genre nowadays ever since we heard of Zygna’s success story. This week’s iPad Game of the Week features Forever Drive, a racing freemium game. In Forever Drive, you race continuously track by track until you run out of time. But the biggest feature of forever drive that sets it apart from other racing games is that each track you race on is uniquely created by other users and yes, you yourself can create your own track and publish it for the rest to enjoy. Interesting!

Designing my track!

Before you start to think Forever Drive sounds easy and dull, let me assure you that it is REALLY difficult to survive after the first few tracks. The time allowed to complete each track decreases after every each one you’ve successfully completed. After a while, you will need to be perfectly flawless to complete the later tracks. (By perfectly flawless I mean getting every single power-up available and of course having ZERO collisions.)

As an incentive, every completed race earns you experience points. As your XP accumulates you can start unlocking new stuff such as cars, paint jobs, along with the usual racing stuff, but more importantly, you can unlock new scenery for building your own tracks as the track builder was one of the big attractions for me.

Screenshot = Bang

The glamorous flashy graphics that look like something out of a tron light-cycle arena. There are a total of 9 different themes you can choose from when building your track, all of them equally spectacular. The track editor comes with a quick tutorial to show you how easy it is to use. However, the actual game does not have help menu and I am still curious what the stars and white corners are for (Extra points or speed?).

Argh..

Forever Drive is a great game to sit back, relax and watch your car drift through the captivating scenery of neon-lit circuitry. Definitely worth a spin! (Big pun) Oh remember the first screenshot of me designing my track? This is how it looks like in 3D. Sweeeeeeet!

Till next week
