DrawRace – (iPhone/iTouch)

Developer: RedLynx Ltd

Price: $2.99

Here at AOMBase, we strive to give all you guys frequent reviews every week. However, I have been down with chickenpox for the past 3 days. Apparently, it is much more serious when you get infected as an adult. Anyway, here I am, with a 38 degree fever and a few hundred fluid-filled blisters on my entire body (yes, in those places too), but still dedicated to the cause of sharing my views on Draw Race, our game of the week, with all of you lovely people out there.

Up to 3 players in LAN mode

There are few games with multi-player capabilities on the iOS, so we thought we’d highlight one of them that exceeds the attention its getting. Draw Race is an extremely simple game. Just use your fingers to draw the “racing line” around the track. The faster you draw, the faster your car will go. However, there is a pretty low limit for the maximum speed so there is no point rushing the line. After you are done, press the start button and your race car will then automatically follow the line that you just drew and you can sit back and watch.

Sound boring? Haha, it is surprisingly not. On the contrary, it actually provides a great deal of fun, and a small but decent amount of adrenaline when you compete with your friends. A victory cry, complemented with a series of fist pumps, is almost guaranteed in every race, leading to one rematch after another.

As you can see from the picture above, Draw Race supports up to 3 players. (Interestingly, they haven’t upgraded the maximum number of players.) The LAN aspect of this game is definitely the most entertaining. The only reason why someone should want to play the single player campaign is  to unlock more maps, which can be used on the much more engaging multi-player (LAN) mode. There is also an equally boring network mode where you can play with other players online.

Go go go!

As a conclusion, I have come to realize that most iOS users are “price sensitive”, and therefore am compelled to provide different recommendations. To keep things simple, I have classified app store browsers into 3 categories and you can match yourself to one of them.

1. “I think twice when I download a game that cost 99 cents”

2. “I think twice when I download a game that cost $1.99”

3. “What is a few dollars?”

Category 1 – NOT recommended

Category 2 – Seriously? $1 difference?

Category 3 – Definitely worth a spin.

Score: 7.5/10
